We're learning multiplication! I'm requiring all students to memorize the times tables, since they form such an important foundation for all of mathematics. Each week, your child will have one additional bit of homework: memorize one of the times tables by Friday, when we will have a quiz. I sent home all of the times tables on Monday, November 27. These are to be used to help memorize the facts, not to do homework however! The students should be using the skills they're learning in class (drawing arrays, skip counting, doubling, etc.) to complete the homework.

Happy new year! In the next few months, we will be focusing especially on the MSA, coming up in March. To this end, we will be working on our brief constructed rosponse questions (short essay), as well as you selected response questions (multiple choice). We will also be reviewing the skills needed for the test. In February, we will have a BCR question to answer each night for homework. If you have any questions about the MSA, please email me!

Science Fair is just around the corner! We will do a class project regarding the structure of skyscrapers. It will be on display at the Science Fair on January 30 and 31. If you are interesting in judging the Science Fair projects for the older students (4th, 5th, and 6th grade students do individual projects), please contact me or Dr. Jaegers, our science teacher.
